The Illusion of Creation and the Legacy of Buddhist Intelligence

The Illusion of Creation and the Legacy of Buddhist Intelligence

If something can be created, then it is, by its nature, an illusion. A magician, too, presents the hidden as if he has brought it into existence.

Buddha stands as the greatest adversary to creationist beliefs, resurfacing time and again throughout history. He is not a divine architect conjuring miracles but rather the pinnacle of human intelligence—an enlightened being who illuminated the path to truth. He taught that discovering truth is an individual’s responsibility, not a matter of blind faith.

It is a testament to Sri Lanka, the land where the Buddha once walked, that it continues to uphold this wisdom. Nowhere else in the world has a nation so steadfastly resisted creationist ideologies as Sri Lanka. This raises an important question: from where did this depth of knowledge, intellect, and reasoning emerge in their lineage?

And when asked, “Who created this beautiful land where such intellect flourishes?”—true Sinhalese Buddhists simply gaze upon the question with quiet understanding, their eyes reflecting both wisdom and compassion.
